At one time the historic William Fraser Trail was the primary land route between Kootenay Bay and Crawford Bay. While the connection to Kootenay Bay has been decommissioned there is still a significant portion to enjoy. With support from CBT and the RDCK as well as a private landowner we have recently reestablished a significant northern section which connects to HWY 3A just below the YRB highways yard. The trail starts (or ends) here and continues south crossing the top of the Woodlot Trail and continues up past a northwest viewpoint of Ainsworth and on to the North Spur Rd. where the Height of Land trail begins. This is a cross country two-way trail approximately 3.5 km in length. Mountain bikers may prefer approaching this trail from south to north as part of the Height of Land ride.
